Forest View Students Honor Arbor Day
On Friday, April 29, Forest View Elementary hosted a tree-planting ceremony in honor of Arbor Day with the Village of Mount Prospect Public Works Department. The tree was planted in the parkway near the intersection of Deborah and Estates Drive.
Students and staff from Forest View were in attendance, as was Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, various Village officials, members of the Garden Club of Mount Prospect, and Dr. Art Fessler, Superintendent of Schools at CCSD59. Public Works mascot P.W. Paws also made a guest appearance.
The entire school learned the two songs which were sung during the event, and students read poems with nature themes to help celebrate the occasion. Original artwork submitted by the students was featured in the program, and one student from each grade level helped cover the newly planted tree with fresh dirt.
This is the second tree planted at Forest View Elementary in honor of Arbor Day, according to Mayor Juracek.
