‘Operation North Pole’ Keeps CCSD59 Students Warm
On Wednesday, October 25, students at Robert Frost went home with a smile – and a new winter coat.
All students at Frost – in addition to Rupley, Juliette Low, Admiral Byrd, Salt Creek, and John Jay Elementary Schools – were provided with coats at no charge by Operation North Pole (ONP), a volunteer-based public charity that specializes in assisting children. These specific CCSD59 schools met ONP’s criteria to receive free coats, and every child at all six schools received a coat at no charge. Families who opted out of receiving a free coat donated it to the CCSD59 Community Cares Closet (CCC), located at Ridge Family Center for Learning, for future distribution to students of any CCSD59 schools who may be in need of one.
CCSD59 families in need of a coat or wanting to donate coats or other clothing can contact the CCC at care@ccsd59.org or 847-593-7565.
ONP also provided the children the exciting opportunity to interact with their local police and fire departments, who volunteered at many of the schools to personally hand out the coats to the kids.
CCSD59 warmly thanks Operation North Pole, our local Police and Fire Departments, city and local government officials, and all other volunteers and staff who made this event possible and volunteered at all our schools.
