Action Items
Agenda Item 7.0
Approval of 2020 Tax Levy and Set Date – 7.01
SG 4: Stewardship of Resources
Cook County taxing districts follow the Truth in Taxation Law (35 ILCS 200/18-55; Division 2) when a levy is over 105% of the prior year extension. However, CCSD59 follows this practice even when it is not necessary. This law requires CCSD59 to estimate the necessary amount of its aggregate levy no less than 20 days before taking action to adopt the levy. The board approved proceeding with the preparation of the 2020 levy and announced the public hearing date of November 9, 2020.
Approval of Amendment to Phase Two Agreement Between Control Technology & Solutions, L.L.C and CCSD59 – 7.02
SG 4: Stewardship of Resources
The board approved an amendment to the Phase Two agreement between CCSD59 and Control Technology & Solutions, L.L.C as part of the district’s finance and facilities planning. The amendment added the following project work to the original agreement, dated February 10, 2020:
- Unit ventilators are to be replaced at Grove Junior High and Brentwood Elementary, which was not scheduled in the initial Phase Two plans.
- Additional asphalt patchwork will be done throughout the district that was not originally specified in Phase Two plans.
- Sound blankets will be added to cover the rooftop units at Grove to reduce noise transference.
The original amount of the Phase Two amendment, signed July 16, 2020, is $19,834,005. The additional scope described in this change order increases the cost of the amendment by $1,300,000. The new total will be $21,134,005.
All work is scheduled to be substantially complete by the end of summer 2021.
